NYU Scooter Rental Service
During my time at NYU, my team and I built ScooterShare @ NYU as part of our J-TEaM pitch.
We decided to focus on a problem we saw firsthand: NYU's campus is large, spread across New York City, and continuing to expand, yet students and faculty are stuck relying on slow, unreliable shuttles and congested public transit to get between buildings and campuses. Our solution was a scooter-sharing service built specifically for the NYU community.
To validate the idea, we interviewed over 20 potential customers. Nearly all of them — 95.8% — were open to trying shared electric scooters, and 70.8% said they'd use one regularly if the need was there. With a total addressable market of over 66,000 students and faculty, and a clear gap in campus transportation, we presented ScooterShare @ NYU as well-positioned to solve a real, everyday problem. The service provided an extension to the NYU app that allowed students to check-in/check-out electric scooters to travel between campuses. Few prototype here
